So what exactly IS a movie treatment?
A movie treatment is essentially a 1-2 page summary of a movie script. Think of it as a "mini-script". Movie treatments outline the basic parts of a script to give the reader an overall sense of what the script is about, without having to read 120 pages. A good movie treatment gets the reader interested enough that he/she is willing and eager to read the entire script.
Another definition, from Timothy Sexton, a writer for AssociatedContent.com:
"A treatment is a boiled-down prose version of your screenplay."
